Thailand Visa for Nepali Citizens
This guide provides independent travel information. Check current requirements for your passport, destination and transit route with the relevant government authority. That authority decides applications and entry. Nepal Meets World does not process applications or guarantee approval.
Short answer: Nepali citizens travelling to Thailand for tourism should obtain the appropriate Thai visa before travel unless the official Thai system confirms another entitlement for their specific passport and circumstances.
The Royal Thai Embassy in Kathmandu announced its e-Visa process in December 2024.

Tourist visa documents
Thailand’s Kathmandu embassy tourist-visa guidance has historically required:
- passport with at least six months’ validity;
- financial evidence;
- confirmed accommodation;
- travel itinerary;
- confirmed flight information; and
- the applicable visa fee.
Because Thailand now operates e-Visa procedures and documentary rules can change, use the current e-Visa application screen as the final document checklist.
Bank statement
The embassy has previously required evidence of adequate funds through an updated bank statement.
Do not hard-code an old minimum balance without checking the current e-Visa requirement on the date of publication.
Flight and hotel evidence
Names and dates should match across:
- passport;
- e-Visa application;
- flight reservation;
- hotel booking; and
- supporting itinerary.
Application steps
- Confirm tourist-visa eligibility.
- Use Thailand’s official e-Visa platform.
- Create the application using passport details exactly.
- Upload requested documents.
- Pay the applicable fee through the authorised process.
- Monitor the application.
- Carry the approval when travelling.
How long can you stay?
The stay granted depends on visa type and immigration decision.
Do not confuse visa validity with permitted stay.
Common mistakes
- wrong passport number;
- old bank statement;
- unexplained deposits;
- placeholder hotel bookings;
- inconsistent travel dates;
- screenshots instead of required documents; and
- assuming an agent can guarantee approval.
